The Shack- Part 3

Those of you who have read, or plan to read THE SHACK (please read it first), I want to ask a question:
What do you think about the marks of nail scars in Papa's hands?  I found most of the portrayal of the godhead acceptable, and interesting, but this was something that I wondered how others viewed the idea.
Looking forward to responses.

(a) If we accept that Jesus was FULLY God as well as fully human, then the nail scars in Papa's hands would not be out of place.

(b) Following from above, the nail scars should have been in all of their hands (maybe they were... it's been a while since I read the book, and honestly, I didn't read it as a theological commentary as many seem to have done).

I think that while it is possible, for Jesus to appear to someone with all of the scars, if Jesus is fully God (which He is) then it would be wrong to say that Jesus HAS to appear with scars, as this would take away from Him being all powerful.

I think that is what has bothered me with the view that Jesus still has the scars in his hands (how can he: he is God!) I have thought therefore that it would be impossible for the Father and for The Spirit to also bear the scars--it might take away from their holiness. Yet, we must, and do, rejoice that God cared that much for us, that He died.

@pb49r - we have to remember that in the trinity, the Father is not the Son or the Spirit. The Son is not the Father or the Spirit, and the Spirit is not the Father or the Son.

So if Jesus is God The Son, and He is not the Father or the Spirit. then it would stand to reason, that while it is possible for the Father, to appear as the Son (that whole all powerful thing)  since the Father is not the Son, the Father would really have no reason to do so. It is God the Son that died for us, not the Father or the Spirit so they would not have the nail marks, as they are 3 seperate beings, only one of which was nailed.

I think that is the orthodox position, and I accept it. Yet, it is a unique twist that the Father could have scars of crucifixion in his own hands. (Of course, if the Father never has, and never will, taken on human flesh, or been visible, then it would be impossible)

Y'all might find this entire discussion making more sense if you consider that the word "trinity" never appears in scripture

Hi Wendi. What is your point? Maybe it is made for you earlier (I'm only seeing your comment before this one). The word is not used, but the concept is from Genesis to The Revelation.
